Former President Trump, on Friday, July 30, denounced a group of Republican senators for supporting President Biden’s $1.2 trillion infrastructure investment package, saying they are giving a significant victory to the radical Democrats.

“The RINOs [Republicans In Name Only] in the Senate are delivering a big win by caving to the radical Democrats on infrastructure,” Trump said in a statement.

In a Senate vote on Wednesday night, 17 Republican senators joined all Democrats to support the debate on the infrastructure deal that has been championed by President Biden. They include Sens. Roy Blunt (Mo.), Richard Burr (N.C.), Shelley Moore Capito (W.Va.), Bill Cassidy (La.), Susan Collins (Maine), Kevin Cramer (N.D.), Mike Crapo (Idaho), Lindsey Graham (S.C.), Chuck Grassley (Iowa), John Hoeven (N.D.), Lisa Murkowski (Alaska), Rob Portman (Ohio), Jim Risch (Idaho), Mitt Romney (Utah), Thom Tillis (N.C.) Todd Young (Ind.) and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.).

In his Friday’s statement, Trump said that “Once they pass this bill out of the Senate, it will sit in the House until they get steamrolled by the biggest government expansion in a generation.”

As a result, “Tax increases on everyone, government run health care, more government run schools, amnesty for illegal immigrants, MASKS, and many more terrible socialist programs,” he claimed.

The infrastructure package links to a broader $3.5 trillion spending bill that the Democratic leaders plan to move ahead with, though the Republicans have vowed to oppose that effort. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) has pledged not to act on the infrastructure bill until the Senate passes the $3.5 trillion legislation.

According to Washington Times, the more significant legislation contains a slew of liberal priorities, including health care, climate change, and anti-poverty initiatives. But because those provisions are unlikely to garner GOP support, Democrats plan to pass it along party lines via budget reconciliation.

Trump suggested that Democrats are holding the infrastructure package hostage to secure passage of their priorities.

“Nancy Pelosi has said NO INFRASTRUCTURE until they get everything else. Infrastructure is just a “carrot” for a massive socialist expansion,” Trump said.

The former president questioned, “Why are RINOs so desperate to push bad, Radical Leftist policies? And at the same time give a big win to the Democrats. They will be forced to give up some of the incredible tax cuts gotten during the Trump Administration, one of its many hallmarks.”

“This is bad legislation and politically irresponsible. The Democrats will use it to show they can get anything they want from the Republicans,” he said.

This month, Trump called on the Senate Republicans to abandon talks on the deal until they get a fair election next year.
