At a Republican dinner in northern Lincoln County, New Hampshire, on Friday, July 16, Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) announced that he will seek to prevent military officers from teaching Critical Race Theory (CRT) and will introduce legislation to do so, Breitbart News reported.
Of the Republicans fighting against the progressives’ advance in U.S. society, Cotton is among the most active. Yet, since Biden’s inauguration, progressivism is increasingly being introduced in national institutions.
The senator’s announcement generated a wave of applause among those present, “I’m about to demand all these generals and admirals that want another promotion to commit that they are not going to be teaching anything like this [CRT] in their commands.”
Cotton believes that CRT is totally opposed to the American foundation and that it opposes the thinking of Dr. Martin Luther King, who said, “… we should be judged on the content of our character and not the color of our skin.” Cotton added CRT is an outrage and “has to be fought.”
He also pointed out that for advocating the same ideals as King, many people, even children, are being persecuted and boycotted due to the indoctrination by left-wing radicals.
According to Breitbart News, CRT is anti-American and puts skin color as the most important thing and not each person’s individual character.
On Wednesday, the Republican senator introduced legislation to prohibit federal funds from being distributed to K-12 schools that endorse CRT and colleges and universities that force faculty and students to adopt communist ideology.
Turning to the U.S. military, Cotton, along with Reps Dan Crenshaw (R-Tex.) Mike Gallagher (R-Wis.) and Jim Banks (R-Ind.) requested an assessment of the Navy situation conducted by Marine Lieutenant General Robert Schmidle and Rear Admiral Mark Montgomery, both retired military officers.
The request was due to a series of accidents that occurred recently, including the USS Bonhomme Richard fire in San Diego, two Navy ship collisions in the Pacific, and the surrender of two small boats in Iran.
The assessment yielded troubling results about the state of the U.S. Navy.
77 people were interviewed during the investigation, ranging from enlisted sailors to senior officers, active and retired.
The results showed that there is not enough combat training and sailors know virtually nothing about dealing with real conflict, and there is too much focus on training them in ‘diversity.’ Sailors and officers are fired for the slightest mistake in no one taking risks. Senior ranks are too focused on press and superficial reputation and make decisions based on these rather than the Navy’s guiding principles. There is little investment in training; and poor ship maintenance.
“Sometimes I think we care more about whether we have enough diversity officers than if we will survive a fight with the Chinese Navy,” one lieutenant on active duty said according to the report. “It is criminal, they think my only value is as a black woman but—[if] you cut our ship open with a missile—and we will all bleed the same color.”
As a sign of the danger America because of the Marxist policies being implemented in the military, the report concludes, “Sailors interviewed for this report do not believe the Navy prioritizes fighting and winning, because Navy leaders do not talk about fighting and winning.”
Former Secretary of Defense James Mattis previously testified that the United States does not have a “preordained right to victory on the battlefield.”
“Unless changes are made the Navy risks losing the next major conflict,” the report said.
