President Donald Trump said on Monday, Oct. 19 that Democratic nominee Joe Biden is lucky because U.S. Attorney General William Barr is so “fair.”

“I know people who would have had him locked up five weeks ago,” President Trump told supporters at his rally in Arizona, reported Fox News.

“Bill Barr is a very nice man and a very fair man,” he said, adding that somebody else wouldn’t take all that “crap and corruption.”

The president was referencing explosive reports about Hunter Biden’s laptop hard drive containing compromising photos, emails, and other data showing him cashing in on his father’s vice presidency.

Some of those emails appear to show Hunter Biden trading on his father’s name while making business deals in Ukraine and China. The former vice president was purportedly involved in a Chinese deal, in which he was referred to as “the big guy.”

Hunter Biden has not denied the emails’ veracity while his father has dismissed the reports as a “smear campaign.”

On Monday, Fox News reported that it had obtained documents that appear to show Hunter Biden’s signature on paperwork from the Delaware computer repair shop where he dropped off the laptop.

On Sunday, Biden was asked by a reporter about revelations that the FBI had seized Hunter’s laptop in 2019 via subpoena. He refused to even listen to the question.

House Republicans on Monday sent a letter to Barr, urging him to appoint a special counsel to look into the revelations coming from the laptop and Joe Biden’s alleged participation in his son’s business dealings.

“These alleged revelations raise serious questions about former Vice President Joe Biden’s reported participation with his son’s business dealings, specifically whether the former vice president:

  • received foreign monies during his tenure in the Obama administration and
  • allowed his son to peddle access to his father with foreign business entities,” the letter read.

“If these reports about former Vice President Joe Biden and his son, Hunter, are true, the former vice president fell far short of his responsibility to uphold his constitutional oath and betrayed the sacred trust of the American people,” it added.
