CNN’s viewership is plummeting.
Ratings from Nielsen Media Research indicate that the news network had lost 67% of its audience since January, when Donald Trump left the White House.
These figures, reported on Tuesday, indicate that during prime time, i.e., from 8 pm to 11 pm, CNN has. lost about 65% of its total audience since January.
And if we focus on the critical 25-54 demographic, the numbers show a total plunge: The network lost 71% of its viewers both during daytime and primetime.
It is worth noting that CNN’s viewership drop is larger than that of its competitors, but all of the major cable news programs have experienced a drop.
MSNBC had the second largest drop in viewership since January, losing 49% of its total audience between January and May.
In the 25-54 demographic, the network lost 63% of its viewers.
Fox News had the least substantial defection, losing 12% of its total viewers.
Pointedly, CNN’s New Day took a big hit in the ratings.
It had its least-watched week of the year with 461,000 total viewers and has averaged less than 500,000 viewers for the past four consecutive weeks.
Meanwhile, Fox News reached its 14th consecutive week in the number one spot for cable news viewers, with 2.1 million viewers during primetime and an average of 1.2 million viewers during the day.
All these media, including Fox News, have shown a clear “anti-Trump” imprint, with CNN being the most visible face of the so-called “Fake News”.
On the other hand, alternative news networks such as OANN and Newsmax have seen their ratings soar.
All this reflects that a good part of the U.S. population no longer believes in the major news networks, and is looking for alternative ways to find the truth about what is going on.
