CNN cut to a commercial about a half an hour into President Trump’s Fourth of July speech on Thursday, according to a recently released article on the Washington Examiner.

A commercial popped up when Trump was giving a salute to the U.S.Air Force.

The reason behind it is that there were so many controversies surrounding the president’s speech. His critics, concerned that Trump might “stray from the speech” or “if the President turns what is meant to be celebration into an overtly political event, he could put military personnel in the position of violating Defense Department guidelines prohibiting men and women in uniform from engaging in political activity,” according to Washington Examiner.

In the end it turned out to be the exact opposite. The president’s speech was entirely apolitical.

“We celebrate our history, our people, and the heroes who proudly defend our flag—the brave men and women of the United States Military!” Trump said.

The president continued, “As we gather this evening in the joy of freedom, we remember that we all share a truly extraordinary heritage. Together, we are part of one of the greatest stories ever told—the story of America.”

CNN apparently was not the only cable news that did not remain entirely tuned in to the event. Jack Posobiec, OANN host later confirmed in his tweet.

On same day, the CNN politics stated Trump’s tribute to America’s armed forces “unfolded amid stormy skies and criticism that he was politicizing the nation’s Independence Day celebrations.”

Ari Fleischer, former White House press secretary tweeted America’s Independence Day is “beautiful and inspiring.”

Marc Thiessen, Fox News wrote “This is a great speech. All those making a fuss about it look increasingly ridiculous with each passing minute.”

And the list goes on.
