An American pay television host has called the previous president one of the most corrupt and deceitful figures in national politics.
Fox News host Tucker Carlson criticized Barack Obama for using a eulogy speech for the late Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.) to attack frontline workers who protect and serve the nation.
The former president appeared to support extreme anarchist protests that spread across the nation after the death in custody of Minnesotan George Floyd on May 25.
“[Public Safety Commissioner for Birmingham, Alabama] Bull Connor may be gone but today we witness with our own eyes police kneeling on their necks of black Americans,” Obama can be heard saying in a video aired on Fox News’s “Tucker Carlson Tonight.”
Carlson believes the remark was a clear example of anti-police activism, and anyone attending the late congressman’s service should feel outraged.
“Barack Obama, one of the sleaziest and most dishonest figures in American politics, used George Floyd’s death in a funeral to attack the police,” he said. “If some greasy politician showed up at your loved one’s funeral and started throwing around stupid partisan talking points about Senate procedure … you would probably walk out. Desecrating a funeral with campaign slogans, what kind of person would do that?”
Carlson felt disappointed the Democratic Party did not distance itself from Obama when he decided to politicize the somber event.
“Democrats in the audience did not seem offended, they did not blink, they cheered, [and] it all seemed normal to them,” he said. “And why would it not? Political power is their religion. It is not out of place in a church. It is what they worship.”
Carlson believes this is another example of the Democrats systematically dismantling “core institutions of American life.”
“They are subverting the core system in our government, the justice system, they are nullifying laws, burning police stations, attacking courthouses, working to eliminate the legal equality of American citizens—the foundation of it all,” he said.
He also said the party was misleading voters into thinking their actions are in the national interest when they are merely serving their political ambitions.
“Why are they doing all of this? They will tell you it’s to make the country better and more just but the country is not improving and it is not fairer,” he said. “They are doing this for one reason: to ensure they have complete control of the United States.”
